Dressing for interviews when it's 30°C

Shirt - 3.3 Field Trip (Aland), Skirt - Vintage Hobbs, Shoes - New Look
Watch - Daniel Wellington

I had an interview during the mini heat wave and it took me quite a while to figure out what to wear. I realized most of my smart clothing is suited to the UK's default cold and rainy settings and not for a sweltering 30°C (I hear this is what other countries call 'summer'). Luckily, I do have one pencil skirt that isn't made from thick wool. I paired it with a white shirt with cool cut-outs from Aland to make the look a little more interesting. Of course, the hardest thing about dressing for interviews isn't taking the temperature into consideration; it's difficult to know whether you've dressed appropriately for the place and position. However, this outfit seemed to work for me as I managed to land the internship! Woohoo!

  1. I love that shirt!! So fitting for the ambiguous dress-code "business casual".

    1. Thanks! I scored it for pretty cheap in Aland :D
And business casual is pretty difficult to dress for!

  2. I would wear this to a corporate setting in a heartbeat; it's classy and it's chic! I love it! I live in a country where 30*C temperature is basically everyday, so imagine my dilemma as I dress up for work (especially since I gravitate towards knits, turtle necks, long sleeves, etc), haha. Anyway, congratulations on the internship!

    1. Thank you! I'm glad to hear it would work in corporate setting. I'm similar to you with preferring long sleeves (especially for work wear) which is a little bit annoying for the warm weather we've been having here!

  12. wow! congrats annabelle! can i borrow this? i'm applying for work now. haha. :) anyway, yep. summer is definitely 30°C here in Asia, and most of the time, even hotter. Actually, last summer (it's the rainy season now here in the Philippines), we deal with 35°C most of the time. I think our usual day here is around 30-32°C. if we get 27 or something like that, it's already cold! However, in the higher parts of Luzon (Manila is in Luzon) like in Tagaytay, the weather there is amazing! It's 16-18°C. something like that. :)) But you'll love it here I'm pretty sure of that. :D
